hchcr

Product Description

HCHCR stands for High Carbon High Chromium Steel, a type of tool steel that combines high carbon content and a significant amount of chromium to achieve superior hardness, wear resistance, and toughness. This steel is primarily used in applications requiring high performance under extreme conditions, such as in the manufacturing of cutting tools, dies, and other industrial tools.

Characteristics

  • Hardness : HCHCR steels are known for their ability to achieve high hardness after heat treatment, often reaching up to 60-65 HRC (Rockwell Hardness).

  • Wear Resistance : The chromium content and carbide formation make HCHCR exceptionally resistant to wear, which is crucial for tools exposed to high friction and pressure.

  • Corrosion Resistance : The chromium in the steel also improves its resistance to corrosion, though it is not as resistant as stainless steel. It performs well in harsh conditions, especially when properly treated.

  • Toughness : Despite its hardness, HCHCR maintains a balance of toughness, allowing it to absorb impacts without cracking, an important property for tools and dies.
